Description

Sapel’s 20-liter low-profile jerrycan, code SP-201, is made for buyers who care about warehouse space and a clean workplace. In Iran it is known as the “book” jerrycan, because, like a book lying flat on a table, it is longer than it is tall: 38 cm long, 30 cm wide and about 30.5 cm high. That simple shape solves a few problems that tall jerrycans always bring, from the floor space they take up to the liquid that glugs and dribbles when you empty them.

The nominal capacity is 20 liters, and the brimful capacity is about 25 liters. Those extra liters are the headspace above the liquid, which keeps the contents from pushing against the cap during filling, handling or warm weather.

Why Does a Low-Profile Jerrycan Take Up Less Warehouse Space?

A standard 20-liter jerrycan is tall and narrow, and stacking it always carries some risk. This low-profile plastic jerrycan has a wider base and less height, so it can be stacked up to four high. The result is simple: the same number of jerrycans takes up less space, in your warehouse and in your customer’s.

There are four raised buttons on the top of the body and four matching recesses underneath each jerrycan. When you stack them, the buttons of the jerrycan below sit in the recesses of the one above. Warehouse staff find the right position at once, and in transit the stacked jerrycans don’t slide or shift.

Easy-Pour: Smooth Emptying with No Splashing

The “easy-pour” name comes from the neck. A small air channel is built into the inside of the neck, so air flows into the container through it while you pour. The liquid doesn’t glug, surge out or splash; you get a steady, even flow that makes it easy to fill a funnel or a smaller container. For motor oil, pesticides and detergents, where every drop on the floor or on someone’s hands is a problem, that detail matters.

Tamper-Evident or One-Piece Caps, and a Vented Cap for Gas-Releasing Liquids

Two types of cap fit this jerrycan: a tamper-evident cap and a one-piece cap. When the tamper-evident cap is opened for the first time, its seal ring breaks away, so the end customer knows the product reached them untouched. Caps can also be ordered in different colors to match your brand or product range.

If your product is one of the liquids that release gas in the container, such as some liquid fertilizers, pesticides or hydrogen peroxide, choose the SP-622 vented cap. Its valve gently lets the excess gas out, so the jerrycan doesn’t bulge or crack after filling. The cap seals with a foam liner. What Products Is the 20-Liter Low-Profile Jerrycan Suited To?

  • Motor oil, industrial oil and lubricants: and fuel as well; many people know it as a petrol or fuel jerrycan.
  • Chemicals and detergents: from dishwashing liquid and bleach to chemicals compatible with polyethylene.
  • Pesticides and liquid fertilizers: especially with the vented cap.
  • Food products: water, edible oil, vinegar, lemon juice and syrups, which is why it is also sold as a water jerrycan.

Material, Weight and Drop Test

Like the rest of Sapel’s blow-molded containers, the low-profile jerrycan is made from virgin high-density polyethylene (HDPE) by blow molding. Each jerrycan weighs between 1,100 and 1,800 g depending on the order. In other words, the wall thickness can be matched to your product and your shipping route: lighter for ordinary liquids and lower cost, heavier for chemicals and loads with a long journey ahead.

The drop test is one of the main tests for liquid packaging, and its method is defined in the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods. This jerrycan is dropped from a height of 2 m in the drop test and comes through with no cracks or leaks. The body also has a flat 145 × 138 mm area for your label and brand logo.

Packing and Shipping

The jerrycans are delivered in packs of 8. A 1300 × 1100 × 150 mm pallet holds 144 jerrycans; a truck carries 960 and a trailer 2,400.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Low-Profile Jerrycan

How is a low-profile jerrycan different from a standard 20-liter jerrycan?

It is shorter and wider, stacks up to four high, and locks into place thanks to the buttons on top and the matching recesses underneath. Its easy-pour neck also lets air in while you pour, so the liquid comes out without splashing.

Is this jerrycan suitable for water and food?

Yes. The body is made from virgin high-density polyethylene and can be used for water, edible oil, vinegar and syrups.

How much does a 20-liter low-profile jerrycan cost?

The price depends on the jerrycan’s weight, color, cap type and order volume. Fill in the quote request form or contact the sales team to get today’s price.

Which cap should I choose for liquids that release gas?

The SP-622 vented cap. It releases excess gas from inside the container, so the jerrycan doesn’t bulge or crack.
